Interpretation of Reviews

Prospects interpret both the overall score and the number of reviews.

Interpretation of the Overall Score

☆☆☆☆☆ No opinion on any software seems suspicious. This may mean that it is very little used or does not count in its category.
★☆☆☆☆ A single very negative opinion is not necessarily badly perceived if it is answered. On the other hand, several negative opinions leading to a total score of 1/5 is very detrimental: it is the signal of a software to avoid.
★★☆☆☆ A single very negative opinion is not necessarily badly perceived if it is answered. On the other hand, several negative opinions leading to a total score of 2/5 is very detrimental: it is the signal of a software to avoid.
★★★☆☆ 3 stars represent a negative signal in principle. A single very negative opinion is not necessarily badly perceived if it is answered. On the other hand, several negative opinions leading to a total score of 3/5 is very detrimental: it is the signal of a software to avoid.
★★★★☆ 4 stars represent a neutral or good signal depending on the competition.
★★★★★ 5 stars represent a positive signal. Be careful, however, not to solicit only 5-star ratings that may appear false.

Interpretation of the number of reviews

0 No opinion on any software seems suspicious. This may mean that it is very little used or does not count in its category.
1 à 6 Opinions do not convince your prospects but they reassure them about basic elements (lack of scam, consistent price, presence of basic features, support, software quality).
7 à 50 Opinions give credibility to the software and convince many prospects. Ultimately, they increase conversion rates by about 15%.
50 à 150 Reviews are sufficient to sell your software without any special marketing action (promotional offer, marketing reminders, etc.).
150 et plus The total number no longer has any impact, but the freshness of the opinions counts, which is why you must continue to receive them regularly to maintain your leadership position.

How to Collect Reviews?

If you do not use an agency to solicit reviews and you do not have a dedicated solution for this project, follow the 5 steps below to collect as many reviews as possible.

Step 1: Collect contacts

Email
Name
Last name
Connections this Month
First Connection
abc.def@company.com Abc Def 23 2012
ghi.jkl@business.com Ghi Jkl 18 2017
mno.pqr@entreprise.fr Mno Pqr 20 2005
stu.vwx@societe.net Stu Vwx 12 2003

Retrieve the list of your customers from your CRM or directly from the software you sell. Extracting additional data from the first name, last name and email allows you to make an initial filter to maximize your success rate.

Step 2: Select and segment contacts

In the above case, we could choose the most active users by excluding the oldest ones for example (to keep only the most enthusiastic users).

It is also possible to send several emails to maximize relevance: one email to the oldest to thank them for their loyalty and one email to recent customers to thank them for the trust they give you.

Step 3: Send the first email

Send the first email to invite your contacts to leave a review on your product page. If you send this email from Gmail, you can retrieve the template below and paste it into your email.

Integrate the template into Gmail

  1. Open the email template
  2. Press CTRL + C (CMD + C on Mac) to select all
  3. Press CTRL + V to paste the content into a new Gmail email
  4. Replace the logo at the top of the email
  5. Replace SOFT_NAME with the name of your solution
  6. Replace the button’s destination link with the one on your product page. Add #review at the end of the URL to send users directly to the right place on the page.

Step 4: Gather the contacts who did not respond

7 days after sending the first email, return to your initial list and delete the contacts who have posted a review and use this updated list to send a reminder email.

Step 5: Send a second email

Send the second email to remind your users. It is very effective to motivate them with a financial incentive of between 10 and 25 euros.
